Traditional lying presses usually incorporate a floor-standing frame with bin for waste paper. Our smaller press is designed for bench top use and comes without the frame and bin. Working distance between wooden screws is approx. 350mm and total jaw length is circa 500mm. Fully opened jaws will accommodate work of approx 100mm thickness. Traditionally these presses commonly used rock maple jaws and beech screws. Our presses will follow this tradition, pending availability of suitable timbers. If other materials must be used, the customer will be advised of changes before work on the order begins.
A small frame to accommodate the press can be supplied but customers will need to specify the height they require.
For those customers who are also interested in purchasing the bookbinder’s plough, a matched unit (plough with matched track on the rear jaw of the press) can be ordered. Presses with tracks installed can be turned over so that the “top” side of the jaw is now devoid of any impeding tracks.
Our bindery is based in Victoria, Australia. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
For outside of Australia, please contact us to confirm the shipping cost, we will try to reply as soon as possible.
