Is my book worth restoring?

Is my book worth restoring?

I had someone ask me recently, “Is my book worth fixing?” So I want to share my answer from a practical and logical point of view.

Whether a book is worth restoring really depends on how important it is to you. If the book comes from your family, if it carries memories, signatures or sentimental value, then yes, it is worth fixing. We restore many books like that because they cannot be replaced. A new copy will never hold the same meaning.

But if the book is easily available to buy again and it does not have personal value, then some people choose to replace it instead of restoring it. Restoration takes time and detailed work, so in those cases buying a new copy can be more practical.

So the real question is not about the money. The real question is, “How important is this book to you?” If it is meaningful, if it is part of your story or your family’s story, then restoration is absolutely worth doing.
