Linen thread is considered the strongest and highest quality sewing thread used for bookbinding.

Natural Linen Thread- High tensile strength.

Some bookbinder may prefer non-waxed thread for specific projects, this is the non-waxed thread, you can use our beeswax to wax your thread accordingly- 100% Natural Beeswax Block For Waxing Threads – Traditional BookBinding

The colour may vary slightly due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings.

Size:

Please note the thickness of the thread is only a rough thickness, it is not exact, in order to give you an idea of the thickness.

40/3 ( No.40 Cord 3 )- Approx 0.3 mm- 250g  Approx 1950 metres

For needles, these three-size threads can fit into our 62mm and 70mm straight needles and B1, B2, B3 and B4 curved needles. Discover our needles- Click Here

As usual, you can simply wet the end of the thread so the thread can easily fit into the needle eyes without hassles.

We have used many threads in the past and tested most of the threads on the market. Unfortunately, most of them were quite weak for bookbinding and could snap if pulled too tight. We need to use strong threads as we restore and bind many valuable books in our bindery.

This thread we have been using for many years, and we can confirm this is one of the strongest threads we ever used so far, it is tested by our book restorers and bookbinders.
