Product Options
Demonstration Piece in Excellent Condition
This is a well-maintained demonstration press in excellent working order. You may notice minor surface marks from previous use, but these are purely cosmetic and do not affect functionality. This particular piece is larger than the one we offered previously, offering even more value and versatility. It's a solid, reliable tool, ready for immediate use.
Brand New Press in Unused Condition
This option is brand new and in pristine condition, ideal for those who prefer an untouched tool for their studio or workshop.
Both versions are crafted from the same high-quality materials and deliver the same level of reliability and craftsmanship.
Used Press Information
If you choose a used piece in good condition, its appearance will be close to the images shown. However, you may see light wear, small chips, or minor marks on the surface. These do not affect performance. We'll send you photos of the exact item before shipping so you can confirm you're happy with it. If not, we're happy to refund your payment prior to dispatch.
Materials
- Jaws: Made from English Beech, the jaws are soft to the touch and may have a slight fuzziness. This gentle surface helps protect book covers and pages during pressing.
- Screws: Crafted from English beech timber, the wooden screws are durable and strong, with a beautiful natural grain that complements the press.
Usage Tips
- The wooden screws may feel tight at first — this is normal. With use, they will loosen slightly while remaining firm enough to provide even pressure.
- Always keep the jaws parallel when opening or closing the press. Misalignment can cause jamming or damage the timber components.
- Open and close the press slowly and evenly from both sides to maintain smooth operation and alignment.
This handmade press is ideal for traditional bookbinding, conservation, and book arts projects that require both strength and care.
