Please note that our presses are handmade in small batches, so we occasionally run out of stock. If this happens, there may be a wait of 2–3 weeks before your press is ready. This applies whether you have ordered a used or brand new press. We will let you know if we are able to send your press directly after your order is placed. You will receive an email from us keeping you updated on the status of your order, so you are well looked after. Please do not worry about what you will receive — before we dispatch anything, we will always send you photos of the exact press we are preparing to send, so you can see every detail and confirm you are happy. If for any reason it is not right for you, we are more than happy to offer a full refund.
Wooden Book Press – Standard Model

This handcrafted wooden book press is designed to deliver consistent and even pressure, making it an essential tool for bookbinding, restoration, and other creative work. With a balance of strength and gentle control, it's ideal for book and paper conservation projects where care and precision matter.

Option 1

Demonstration Piece in Excellent Condition

This is a well-maintained demonstration press in excellent working order. You may notice minor surface marks from previous use, but these are purely cosmetic and do not affect functionality. This particular piece is larger than the one we offered previously, offering even more value and versatility. It's a solid, reliable tool, ready for immediate use.

Option 2

Brand New Press in Unused Condition

This option is brand new and in pristine condition, ideal for those who prefer an untouched tool for their studio or workshop.

Both versions are crafted from the same high-quality materials and deliver the same level of reliability and craftsmanship.

If you choose a used piece in good condition, its appearance will be close to the images shown. However, you may see light wear, small chips, or minor marks on the surface. These do not affect performance. We'll send you photos of the exact item before shipping so you can confirm you're happy with it. If not, we're happy to refund your payment prior to dispatch.

Please note: These presses are handmade, and natural surface variations from the timber are expected. These are not signs of damage but part of the unique character of handcrafted wooden tools.
  • Jaws: Made from English Beech, the jaws are soft to the touch and may have a slight fuzziness. This gentle surface helps protect book covers and pages during pressing.
  • Screws: Crafted from English beech timber, the wooden screws are durable and strong, with a beautiful natural grain that complements the press.
  • The wooden screws may feel tight at first — this is normal. With use, they will loosen slightly while remaining firm enough to provide even pressure.
  • Always keep the jaws parallel when opening or closing the press. Misalignment can cause jamming or damage the timber components.
  • Open and close the press slowly and evenly from both sides to maintain smooth operation and alignment.

This handmade press is ideal for traditional bookbinding, conservation, and book arts projects that require both strength and care.
