Whilst there are many resources on the Internet dealing with the production of marbled paper, few deal with the specific requirements needed for the production of marbled endpapers. Here, quite large sheets are usually required (to produce a folded endpaper for sewing or gluing).
Most of the traditional styles and patterns one typically sees on the endpapers of older-style books are dealt with in this small but informative booklet. The equipment needed is quite basic and the author gives sufficient information for the newcomer to produce his or her marbling tray, combs and rakes. Sufficient information is also given for the newcomer to produce a range of better-known styles – ‘stone marble’, ‘peacock’, ‘nonpariel’, etc.
